It is of high importance to Scheffler Logistics to treat nature in a considerate manner. We contribute in many ways to preserve its resources.
We employ modern vehicles, according to the Euro Norms 5 and 6 and school our drivers to economically operate these vehicles. We avoid empty running, comply with ecological regulations and maximize the utilization of the cargo hold through hub-and-spoke distribution and double deck swap bodies.
Our complete team takes care that more and more processes allow for a better protection of the environment. This includes, among other aspects, waste reduction and a consistent recycling plan. Since January 2014, Scheffler has been exclusively relying on renewable power sources. A contract with the local energy provider enercity running until 2017 will result in a projected reduction of almost 200 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
In the beginning of 2015 a large photovoltaic system on the roof of the company headquarters in Langenhagen was put into operation. This modern eyecatcher enhances Scheffler Logistics energy efficiency substantially. Moreover, the lighting in our transshipment HUB was switched entirely to LED-illuminants. As a consequence of these actions, we were able to lower our energy consumption by 35.000 kW in 2015. We aim to save approximately 50.000 kW by 2016 in order to halve our headquarters energy usage within a period of two years.
Sustainable measures like these show: we feel obliged to offer all our customers the best, environmentally safe logistics possible.
